Stranded Running out of patience for what?

Some incoming transfer news will be great but beyond that I'm not sure what I'm meant to be running out of patience about. Do I want us to go up this year? Yes.

Will it be the end of the world if we don't? No.

If we struggle, regardless of how we play then I'll see it's time for a change. If we continue to play akin to the opening games, then yeah I wouldn't be overly excited by it - if we do well with it though then I'll accept it for the time being.

Maybe I'm being a bit naive but I can't see it being all that succesful. Solid? yes.

It may not be but who knows, the first couple of games may have been poor performances nothing more, nothing less - they may be a sign of things to come.

Every season, especially a 46 game one will have bad performances. Unfortunately we've had a couple off the bat which obviously magnifies the effect - if we play well tomorrow, well which is the "real" Reading team this year? Results though haven't matched the performances.

Maybe the performances we've seen are just hangovers/lack of confidence following an awful away record last year - so we've gone for the lets not lose outlook first. We often, even last year set out to win games and lost - maybe if we set a more solid stall out at the back (which we had against Forest) then we may nick a goal on the break. A few dirty results off the back of those performances away and confidence could well return.

Alternatively tomorrow may be a shambles, we may play like it again and lose, we may even still win - it really is too early to get any picture. If after 10 or so games we are still playing shocking football and are midtable or lower then it'll be time to look at changing things.

Will we see season tickets on the pitch in January ?

That always reminds me of that bloke at Boro who threw his season ticket at McClaren then 2months later begged the club to give it back to him when they reached the League Cup Final.

Or the guy who phoned BBCRB to say he had torn up his (plastic) season ticket after the Plymouth game in 05. Even when shedloads of callers are doing that tomorrow, keep the faith!

Patience:

It's not too early to be frustrated with the team and squad, because they've been playing this way for a while and the successful method of playing that we had during 05-06 and the first half of 06-07 has disappeared without being replaced with anything coherent.

However, it is too early to (reasonably) write off this season or to say that Coppell isn't capable of re-starting the squad (with or without new blood) and a way of playing, in the more forgiving environments of the Championship.

I get the feeling that a lot of people get frustrated by the very fact of posting. I mean, I posted on Wednesday telling Coppell what was wrong, and NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE ABOUT IT. When oh when will people realise everything's terrible and nothing will change for the good. etc.

Didn't we get more points in the second half of 06/07 than the first half ?

This is a stupid question. I have supported RFC all throughout my life and always will.

If it is shit, I will moan, but there is no breaking of patience.

What do you expect me to do? Go and support Swindon?

Get oxf*rd.

My point was about the way we were playing. By the 2nd half of 06/07 we were some way removed from the way we were playing the previous season. We were much less attacking and didn't base our game around getting the ball out to the wings quickly. These were necessary changes because otherwise we would have been regularly beaten as in the succession of defeats in Oct 06, but it only worked for as long as the team was confident. When the confidence went we didn't have a reliable system for winning.

The problem is not a matter of patience. It's more a matter of knowing what's coming next. We can all se the squads not good enough. We all know where the team can be improved but similarly, we all know that Coppell won't change anything. So, we can all be as patient as a planet full of saints all of whom have been smoking gear but the fact remains we're in for a crap season unless something drastic changes.

having said that i'll be jumping for joy & dreaming of what might be if we win tomorrow but keep that quiet

Yes but how exactly is my patience going to break?

I have no alternative and do not wish to have one.

Let's just try and remain positive................

The problem we now have is the transfer window is coming to end, so we'll have to stick with Coppell until Christmas. We should of changed the management the day after relegation, but Madeksji waited for Coppell to decide if he fancied it and thus those muppets who protested in the car park have resigned the club to a season of neglect and a waste of parachute payments.

I predicted (and backed) relegation last season and I reckon my prediction of Coppell resigning for "a rest from football" will come true come December/January when the RTG's finally realise what a mistake they have made.

Coppell out.
