Absolutely. Think it will be Ryan and/or Clarke by the middle of the season. Jacob's got some pedigree, looks like he needs a little time to settle in. Hopefully a full week's training will do him good. Appreciate I'm in the minority, but I wouldn't be averse to Garcia playing there again. Particularly if that left wing position is filled by others.

My gut feel is Burns, O'Connor and Jacob are all individually good signings, but collectively have similar flaws, and so don't work well together.

Hope to be proves wrong though.

Don't know why, but for some reason I'm really invested in Clarke coming good.

Clarke showed great promise in the champ - was also a bit of a nutcase as well, throwing himself into everything . If he’d stayed fit I’m sure he’d have been first choice the last few years

Just whether he can come back from the injuries he’s had

Jacob looked good on the ball in the games I’ve seen. I worry about his pace. O Connor and Burns look good to me, but they need to work the defensive system around them better. There’s no Mbengue there to bail them out

Dorsett and PoC both out. Dorsett concussed and PoC calf

Assuming this is correct then looking at:

JP

Abrefa
Burns
Stickland
Jacob

Savage
Wing

Elliott

Lane
O'Mahony
Doyle

As I think he'll want to play Elliott unless they chose to manage his workload.

Wouldn't be us if someone wasn't broken. Presumably then it'll be Burns and Stickland at CB, w/ Jacob and Abrefa at WBs. Given that there's not much pace there i'd like to see them sitting deeper and absolutely not see Wing getting caught behind the LWB again.

I'd rather see Ryan than Jacob given the lack of pace, but seems unlikely.

Would also bring Doyle in off the bench. Expecting him to be in Elliott's position rather than Kelvin's when he plays, but we'll see.

If you've got rampaging wingers in Doyle and Lane you don't really want to have rampaging full backs as well, you want full backs that are fully back the majority of the time and therefore helping issues with pace at the back.

That's simply not how we play. And even if the fullbacks are mostly back, the defence is still in a fairly high line which requires some pace.

Fullbacks have always got forward. Murty and Shorey were behind Little and Convey and got forward. Same with the various ones behind Kebe and McAnuff.

I think it’ll be Doyle in for Elliott. Elliott hasn’t had a lot of football in the last 6 months and this gives an opportunity to ease him back in a bit as well

Doyle, Lane, O Mahoney, Kelvin has the potential to be a very good front 4 I think. Then lots of options to change things up

Options on the bench is key; for the past 2 years we haven't had enough. Now whoever we pick, we should do. Just need another CF option. I think Cole would be a great addition being honest.

We do need another CF option on there certainly going forwards if not necessarily for Saturday

Ideally someone experienced

Cole would prob be ok, Aneke even. But I’m sure there are plenty of available players beyond them who are on the list of options

We could always fill the squad with goalscoring AMs and just stick a CB up top.

If they can win headers and have a good first touch, they'll be an upgrade on O'Mahoney's performances so far.

Although, that's a bit harsh on him to be fair, we're not really playing to his strengths yet.

IF you have good quality AM's you don't necessarily need a decent centre forward, look at what Pep did pre Haaland

I hate balloons.

The sooner they get popped after straying onto the pitch the better.

Sounds good mate. Then again, why not save it for the away game at Swinscum? Now that would be funny. Ollie may well have calmed down by then, and it'll be time to send his bp through the roof again.
