Mills was already covering the middle, Feds made a good save, pushing the ball away but Griffin had come inside too for some reason - leaving Sinclair unmarked and an easy tap in

Feds didn't make a good save. He should have held the ball but let it slip under his hand.

PistolPete Griffin unnecessarily left Sinclair for the second goal too, he was terrible today...

.

Not the first time his ball watching has cost us a goal!

Not just Griffin, a lot of full backs.

And that's hard on full backs too as everyone else gets a shout. And no, he can't know where everyone else on the pitch is all the time, especially when there's a quick break and as he's at the far post, there's a good chance of the cross coming his way.

Standing square on would have helped though - being able to see whats around him, especially behind him.

I'm convinced if he hadn't come inside for their 2nd goal he would have been first to get the rebound and hoof it into row z*

I thought Griffin was lucky to get back in the side when he recovered from injury, but Harte and Griffin weren't shown up as much as I thought they would be. Swansea tried to exploit them at every opportunity, but their brains made up for their lack of pace and they simply intercepted the through balls to Dyer/Sinclair. There were three or four occasions where that happened.

Griffin was obviously at fault for the fourth goal, I blame the second goal on Zurab though, it was also the only time I can think of where Harte's lack of pace was shown up, so Griffin and Mills had to get across to cover.

RobRoyal And what about your favourite Georgian, Floyd? No doubt he's looked a class above this season, but what the fuck was going on today?

Yep, Zurab was absolute bobbins as - to be quite honest - he has been in one or two games in recent weeks. His early shove on Borrini was unecessary and summed up an ill-disciplined day from players and staff. He seems to lose focus and concentration, which is a shame as when he is in the mood he is a rolls royce centre half at this level, carries the ball well and picks good passes. Unlike his hoofing centre-half colleague who tbf was by far and away our best defensive player on the big day (which I think rather sums up the shodiness of our defending).

Quite right. Emmanuel-Thomas at the far post twice had absolute sitters thanks to Grffin's ball watching.

JC
Basingstoke Royal My only problem with Griffin today was the pen. That killed the game, for a nothing challenge when the ball was going out. He is supposed to have all these years of experience and to do what he did was unprofessional and unforgivable.

I also thought zurab on the third goal was similar. Surely he is old enough and wise enough to know that "if in doubt kick it out".

I thought the experience in our team might make the difference yesterday - it did but for all the wrong reasons.

Where was Sinclair when he scored the second - at the back post. And who was the right back who should haver been marking him there - Griffin. So how can you say the only problem with Griffin was the penalty?

Not totally sure about this. Would like to see the replay but suspect Griffin was marking someone already and that Kebe should have tracked back to pick up Sinclair.

I really think Zurab suffered from having made a great challenge in the penalty area ~1min before he gave away the pen.
Coming so soon after, I think he got a bit too optimistic

It was a great challenge but for the next twenty minutes he was either partly or wholly responsible for the conceding of three goals. Disastrous.

Get the full backs on player cam and find one it doesn't happen to.

Just been watching iplayer and I've changed my mind. Zurab's fault. Got caught way out of position. Put Griffin in 2 minds.Made the wrong choice unfortunately.

It's right that Griffin, Harte, and Khizanishvili should take flak in the post mortem for yesterday. Griffin was lucky not to give away a pen against Cardiff, as well. But I don't think we should make a knee-jerk response and say they should all go--after all, they do OK against most Championship attacks, and Swansea are prem standard. I remember Bikey was a goner after the last playoffs, but he went on to play in the Prem.

I never like to see FMs asking for players to be got rid of before we have a replacement available. Arguably, in the case of Griffin and Kish we do--but we need to sign another left back to compete for a place with Harte. To drop Harte, especially if we lose Long, will create a problem as to where our goals are going to come from. I say transition slowly as we rebuild the back four.

I don't think this is right. Once Zurab overcommitted in the middle of the park and Harte was left for dead, Mills and Griffin were in all sorts of trouble. Mills had to position himself to prevent Dobbie ambling into the front of the goal, then Griffin had to come central and hope someone got his back. I'd put goal 2 primarily down to Zurab and Harte.

I understand Mills going in but there was no need for Griffin to do so, knowing full well his man was there at the back post.....IF he had gone inside to mark another player then fair enough but he didn't, if he knew Sinclair was there, he shouldn't have left him IMHO
