Sarah Star Seems like BR's on a bit of a knife-edge here. Things could go either way for him.

No, not really. :| Are you? It just seems to get more and more like he's going to get the push as time goes on.

I'd like to see him stay but maybe that's only because i realise that sacking him isn't necessarily the answer.

A few posters pointed out earlier on here that the bottom 3 clubs had all taken action and sacked their managers. And look where it's got them - absolutely nowhere. Boro fired their manager. Look where it got them. About the only change in the champinoship that has had a positive effect is at barnsley, and that could be put down to one of these runs of 5 or 6 games that fires you up the table.

A new manager should have a positive effect in the short term as players compete to be in his new plans. After a while though, the same old shite will be still there and the new manager will find it just as tough.

I guess my answer to the question Should BR stay? is yes, but not because i want him to, i just don't think we have any other option.

Royalee If this is true, unless we're getting someone like Ferguson in, Madejski has to go.

I think Madejski has to go anyway. Especially if he sacks Rodgers! When will all you fickle, fair-weather fans just fcuk off?

Listen m8, a lot of us were watching RFC in Div 4 before you probably even a twinkle in your dad's eye.

It's nothing to do with fairweather, it's about caring about "your" team and not wanting to see it implode. I don't care who we bring in as manager - as long as they can actually "manage", can impart their knowledge of the game to the team and can improve our tactics and confidence. We need another striker, but other than that, I'll put up with the squad we've got as I think a better, more experienced manager could get something more out of them.

Am going to sit on the fence still, i would like to have seen BR go afte Leicester, however it was not to be, and things are a bit better now.

We do have some odd situations going on Mills and O'Dea for a start, and the lack of a cover striker after the injuries, while we could still have loaned someone in. HOWEVER in the last few windows a certain SC said he could not find anything better, and few signings were made, just perhaps BR is in the same boat, but was less honest this time around and kept quite, knowing how SC was attacked for not making signings by many fans.

There were calls for SC to be binned during his second season, and vast doubts about his signings in the summer of 2005, many would have been happy for him to go, and the rest is history. I can't get excited about BR, however I feel that if he can get a good run going then he will lighten up, and the club will seem a happier place.

Sadly avoiding relegation this season will be successful, lets hope that it can happen, and perhaps next summer things improve.

The poll figures are very interesting. Messageboards tend to give a more negative view of fans' attitudes than is the case in the fanbase overall; HNA being a perfect example. Yet despite the impression given, there is still a majority for Rodgers staying.
I continue to believe that talk of sacking him is very premature and ridiculous. If it were to happen then I can't see Ferguson being interested and Hart was being linked with QPR yesterday, along with Mick Harford. The one man who, in my opinion, would have an immediate positive impact is Ian Dowie. However, for the longer term success of Reading F.C. there is no-one better out there than Brendan Rodgers.

Every game we don't win means that platform he's on gets chipped away a little bit more. If he can't manage to find points from somewhere, he won't be left anything to stand on.

I didn't see you coming out with this kind of stuff whilst Coppell twiddled his thumbs as the squad got progressively worse over 2 years.

I happen to agree with your sentiment though, I just happen to think that in the long term Rodgers will do alright and is a good fit for where we need to be right now.

winchester_royal Like I said this could be complete twaddle so don't get too excited/downbeat, but it does come from a semi-reliable source.

There's been no press coverage around Reading today, so could be true.........

Waiting for more details though.

No Jonny Fordham EP online chat lined up either today, from what i can tell. Not that this means anything in itself of course.

If Brendan does go, please let it be Ferguson who takes his place. I'm not ruling out the thought that they'll just let Dean Austin have a go to save some money!

Hmm, looks as if I've been sold a dummy, or at the very least it was a bit premature.

Happy about that myself, though I'm sure I've upset a few excited knobbers.

Sorry.

Shouldn't worry, lad, you have absolutely zero credbility anyway so a rumour started by you was - personally speaking, anyway - forgotten within 30 seconds.

To be fair Torquay winning 4-0 was enough to put me in a decent mood, news that Rodgers had been booted may have cause a bit of wee to come out. So maybe not such a bad thing.
