Muskrat Not that I'm really bothered, and probably a Dodd if I could be arsed to look, but Garnt Holt's red card has been rescinded.
Shame we couldn't have got Cardiffs goal rescinded as well...

There's a sniff of Dodd in the air. TBF it's the right decision.

Sonow you are saying who can or can't post numbers....

.

No. I couldn't give a oxf*rd. Just making the point that they are utterly mickey-mouse
if they can't be compared

Why should they be comparable in absolute terms if the primary intention of each contributor was to give their view of the relative ranking across the players?

And therein lies the underlying belief behind your endless analyses.

It isn't, and never will be, 'laughable' that peoples' opinions differ so much.

Of COURSE it is. It is if they give any credence to those opinions and marks.

Nothing wrong with small differences of opinion, say Howard being average, to be a bit off average,
but when some players get a SEVEN and a ZERO that is a total JOKE. If there was a measurement
system in the real world with such ludicrous results it would be binned.

0 7 7 difference, ho-ho-ho
3 7 4 difference
6 9 3
6 9 3
5 8 3
4 7 3
3 6 3
6 8 2
6 8 2
5 7 2
7 8 1
4 5 1

Sure 4 v 5 or 7 v 8, that happens, at a push I can understand the occasional 2
but SEVEN and FOUR and 5 3s when the average mark is about a 6? PLEASSE!!

How about this??

Fairy nuff. So why not say MotM was X, Y was good, A B C were crap?

If we all appear to mark out of ten, does it not SUGGEST that marks are meant to relate to each other?

You call THAT "stats"?

It's not. It could have been written = Sheesh, Howard was given a ZERO and a SEVEN and a difference of that much is just bloody ridiculous. Harte had a three (terrible) and a seven (pretty good) and surely again, that's too big a difference to make any sense?

repeat for a further 9 players and subs

Marking out of 10 means you can compare the scores that poster gives across different games, if you wanted to do so.

Snowball,
Nobody else worries on here about how people do their ratings other than you.
It has been like it for years so just leave it alone man.
Also you do seem overly impressed by things like Man of the Match or Player of the Month or other rather trivial things.
Take Last night's game of the Republic v Norway.
Shane gets Man of the match from two independent judges?
No,from two of his mates.
Norway wins the game and yet nobody from Norway gets Man of the Match-it's the same for England games and in our football invariably somebody from the home side.
The same goes for ratings-they are biased towards who the poster likes.
It's a bit of fun, just like this forum has been in the past but has become oh so serious with strange people acting as if they are in a court of law.

Sorry to drag up the past, but did anyone see this?

What really upsets me, is the way people run their mouths about our club, with comments like "dodgy club like Reading"

There is nothing dodgy about our set up in any way. Well run, with very well behaved fans. Never been big spenders beyond our means, never been caught in controversy. Not known for dirty play, or hard tactics (like old' Warnock!!) Our recent success has been done by buying cheap players and developing them etc etc, there's nothing dodgy about our club, we are an example in many ways, how it should be done.

Gutted other people don't regard us as such. I'm not suggesting every one should love us, but certainly respect us. I respect and am impressed at the fact Norwich have so many travelling fans. I respect the fact Leyton Orient have been in the same league for a million years. That Dario O'Grady is / was the longest serving manager in English football with Crewe. That Manchester Utd had all that success in the 90's with that one young squad etc etc etc.

Just watched this video a few times

IT WAS A RED CARD OFFENCE

I originally thought it was a red, then thought not, talked out of it, but seeing it now, Holt goes in both feet off the ground
and makes a double contact. True, AS he makes contect one of his feet is hitting the ground again
but it's a horrible challenge that could have been a leg-breaker

Having watched it again, I agree with the review panel that rescinded the card based on the same evidence.

The Bloke is a thug

v Brentford

The game swung Brentford's way when Holt was dismissed just before the break for a scandalous two-footed tackle on Diagouraga that caught the Bees man on the knees when he was on the ground.

A mere ten yellows and a red last season, gentle giant.

FOURTEEN yellows the season before that

and another red

Holt saw a free-kick deflected over, and then with five minutes of normal time remaining the same player was booked for the second time in the game after cynically pulling back Igoe as Rovers looked to break quickly.

Snowball The Bloke is a thug

What does that make Shane Long then, sent off twice last season for 'rash' challenges?

Holt is a physical player, always has been. His challenge on Harte was late, but replays suggest probably deserving of no more than a booking. Certainly a 'thug' wouldn't have been pulling out of the challenge like Holt was.
