I've a lot of time for Baldock, scored some important goals for us in recent seasons. Great acceleration, quick decisions, good finisher.

If we try to use him like Joao (hint: we won't) then yes I can understand the negativity, but I'm sure we'll use Baldock to his strengths.

VP quite positive about him - great movement off ball, getting behind defence etc. He implied that the players hadn't made the most of that. They need to adapt their style of play to accommodate a very different type of striker to Joao and Meite. Baldock is clearly more of a Nicky Forster than a Trevor Senior/Jimmy Quinn.

He was a threat when he played off the shoulder for a ball over the top into space or when we turned the defence and put it across the face. But the balls were often too long, too short or too straight and he couldn't quite get on the crosses.

Then for some bizzare reason we started launching it for him to chest down or flick on to no one against two CBs twice his size.

Play to his strengths and he's ok. Not fabulous or anything but carries a threat.
