Hoop Blah
I'm not looking to convince anyone either, just wondered what you were basing your opinion on because I can't think of a single player who's performed better for McDermott than they did for Clarke, apart from Al Habsie that is.
McDermott shook them out of their collective malaise of October/November but I'm not sure any individual has played any better, consistently that is.
The team has been more solid and better balanced as McDermott got them working a bit harder but, more importantly, sorted out the balance in the side that Clarke had totally lost.
I think Cox does better under Brian than under Clarke, who'd given up on him.
I am gutted that Brian is not getting better results than Clarke; but I have to say I am enjoying watching the team more. They look an almost decent team at times and better than the points they are winning, in my opinion. So I am still full of hope.
Some of the players have been in similarly point-starved teams under all three managers, so maybe it is something to do with the way they play too. They do not pass accurately to each other enough, and I think this comes from a hit-and-hope mentality that settles for the fact that close enough will be good enough once in a while.
I would not mind seeing some of our better long-term players such as McCleary, Gunter, Robson-Kanu, Obita out of the club if it means clearing us of the losing mentality. I don't suppose that will happen, but I suspect they will turn out the same almost-good-but-a-bit-off performances under any manager. I'd like to see more players at the club with visible passion rather than passive acceptance that we are not really going anywhere.
