Snowball The first Reading goal.

I just can't tell if Shane really got a back-heel and it was going in anyway.

Anyone get a better view?

from my view in th NS- it was going in. maybe even in already

but from the replay it sort of looks like shlong didnt touch it, mills touched it in, and the defender slides in belting the ball further into the net

in short i have no idea what happened.

Mills needed to finish it because the defender who slides in as he hits it would've just stopped the back heel going over.

Long is for us what Kevin Davies is for Bolton. I think he is a real handful for defenders and plays according to what the team require from him. He was named MOTM in his last Republic game too and i'm sure Trappatoni knows a thing or to about strikers to keep relying on Long.

Have a look at the replay. HRK heads it it goes towards Shane Long and their no 2 and then it pops along the line, if anything away from the goal, so Mills did need to put it in.

Not trying to have a go at Shane or Trappatoni but Ireland aren't exactly flush with brilliant strikers.

Yes, but they are the first choice almost every game after them it's the likes of Shane, Noel, Best and Keogh none of whom are going to displace Doyler or Keane very soon.

So Trappatoni selects Shane Long over Noel Hunt?

We'll have to wait and see on that one if Hunt is ever fit and playing enough to really be considered for their side.

Of course, but as he currently ISN'T favouring Noel does that mean McDermott has it right?

PS I REALLY rate Noel Hunt

Good point well made. My point was more centred around the MOTM accolade he received, in a game in which he put in an almost identical performance to the ones he puts in for us every week. Difference being that with the Republic he played up top with a partner, Robbie Keane.

Not sure if this has been mentioned already but Reading Player just got a shit load more value for money.

Complete footage of the Donny game also available. That's the last two games on the trot, home and away. Hopefully its a permanent fixture!

Just having watched highlights I'd say Mills at fault for goal one, Mills with help from Fed for goal two, and Harte for three, although I think it was awkward for Harte to control without handling, he should have just hacked at it, but by the time it was obvious it was difficult to chest it was too late to do that.

Church definitely not offside though Antonio might have been.

My thoughts after watching the match...

Our commentators really are shouting morons. David Armstrong seems to want us to just play exclusively percentage hoofball, but at least can spot when a foul is a foul, which Peter Hood doesn't have a clue about.

Started brightly, but we didn't really control the game, it was too high octane and everyone was snatching at everything. I think it was inevitable that the passes started to go a bit astray and Doncaster started to be able to put their foot on the ball and control midfield.

Tabb started well, but went missing after the goal apart from the odd attack, I agree he looked tired and out of sorts. Donny had lots of good midfield ball, but other than the three goals (which we semi-gifted them with dodgy defending) they rarely troubled Federici. Whereas we could have had 8 or 9 with Long particularly wasteful, though dis-honourable mentions for Tabb and HRK also.

HRK will be a good player if he can just work on his final ball and decision making. Mills wasn't great. Harte was actually pretty good. Long's flick ons are much improved from Swansea, but he still lacks quite a lot in directing and weighting them correctly. He is being helped a great deal more by players actually running past and off him now though.

Personally I'd stick with the starting team & formation for QPR, unless Kebe is fit, in which case he comes in for HRK. Make it Long's last chance, though I'd be happy to see Hunt come in for him. Then switch to 4-4-2 for the next home game with Tabb being the unfortunate one to miss out in midfield to allow Church and Hunt to play together, unless he has a stormer and Karacan has a poor one.

Would like to see Antonio in the advanced central role at some point, he was quality there behind Lambert at times last season. But against QPR I think we need Tabb in there to keep Faurlin under wraps.

I told myself not to subscribe to Reading World until after November as I'm watching every game this month (planning to at least) but they're drawing me in now I have a night in and time to kill!

I was very impressed with Antonio. A starter no, an impact player when needed yes. I'd like to see more of the lad.

Antonio should start ahead of Kanu for QPR if Kebe is still injured. He would cause more problems than Kanu would and has looked impressive when he has featured.

Antonio's looked very promising every time i've seen him this season, but I wouldn't change the lineup if Kebe is still injured. Antonio, at the moment, looks like he'll cause a lot more problems as an impact player from the bench, not to mention his long throw.

I get the feeling he'd do far less good work, but occasionally put in a better final ball than HRK manages. Swings and roundabouts for me.

The commentary is the match commentary we get on Reading Player during the match, believe it or not you get used to it after a while.

Amusing moment at 28:09 into the second half, just before Hart scores his free kick Noel points to exactly where the free kick is going to end up.
