Sarah Star Coppell's Right Footed 11 May sound rather ridiculous but my thinking is that Coppell has said that he is staying for the final year of his contract which is fantastic news...but...
What if a premiership club come in for him....i.e Blackburn? their fans on some message boards have mentioned his name as a possible candidate. Blackburn is the sort of club you could potentially see Coppell at..
If they came calling with a job offer and a longer contract would he go? and would we stand in Blackburns way to stop him going?
Just a thought....
It's a thought that has crossed my mind, but Coppell is supposed to be a man of his word. I think he'll do the right thing and stay.
I really cant see that this is going to be an issue. The question of whether Coppell stayed or not was never a question of whether he could get a different job or not - I think if he'd left us he'd have had another job , in the premiership, pretty quickly. He chose to stay here.
I also dont think that the prospect of a longer contract means anything to a man who until his last contract has insisted on having a one year contract (thank goodness he was persuaded to sign a two year one with us).
Whether he will stay for another contract after this one (regarddless of whether we make an instant return to the Premiership or not ) is I think in more doubt.
