I've not really popped into this thread for a couple of months, but seriously snowball, what do you expect people to do on a forum like this?

It's here for debate and exchanging opinions, if you can't take people passing comment on what you post I do think you could be in the wrong place. If all you want to do is put up your stats for information and the self gratification of endless stats to your liking I think you might be better off create a blog where you can moderate or block the comments to your hearts content.

There's some odd people out there, and the internet is full of strange characters, but sometimes you're online persona and behaviour does actually worry me!

Hoop Blah I've not really popped into this thread for a couple of months, but seriously snowball, what do you expect people to do on a forum like this?

It's here for debate and exchanging opinions, if you can't take people passing comment on what you post I do think you could be in the wrong place. Hoop it's not about "passing comment" and except for a sensible few, it never has been.

It's a concerted attack from a couple of dozen people working in relays.

Nobody's posts could stand up to the minute scrutiny mine get, day upon grinding day.

It started with the first thread I started, supporting Shane Long, and has gone on ever since.

However, in the case of these stats, stats I've said ain't going to be changed
simply because I'm being bullied, stats that some people actually LIKE and
would wish that the nay-sayers just back away... in the case of these, why,
KNOWING my position (which will not change) do people keep coming back
ant ranting about exactly the same things?

All it does is cause noise and heat and spoils the thread for those
who actually want to read the stats.

Anyone and everyone can post their own stats,

Anyone and everyone can go look at stats on the internet.

There isn't much point in repeating internet stats.

This is MY take.

You know, I know, they are my own stats, like them or lump them. You have chosen
to ignore them, good for you... so why EXACTLY do people like Maguire return day after
day just to challenge SOMETHING, knowing that nothing will be changed?

Why? Because they want conflict. They want trouble.

Anyone who genuinely cared could chat by PM. Attacking these stats is just faux-cojones and "easy-meat"
because most attackers have a nice large clique to back them up when they get tired. I'm in a corner
of one, so of course it seems I'm scrapping and retaliating with a similar offensiveness

If 20 people post two offensive posts and I reply then each of those has "only" posted a couple
of antagonists posts and they can write it off as a joke. However, I have received FORTY, and that's
how it is day after day after day.

cmonurz
I took the same approach, and was told that the bile he posted would stop if I chose my disagreements ‘more carefully’. He’s a patronising, self-obsessed cnut.

Here is the total text of my message

The tone of your remarks to me, all through the Shane Long threads and 90% of the time when you "engage" me is like Ian Royals'

You seem to LOOK to disagree.

I don't want agreement. Agreement is pointless

If we agree we don't debate.

But I KNOW when you turn up in a stats thread of mine it will ALWAYS be to pick holes
(well it has always been up to now)

Effectively you are acting as if every stats thread I generate MUST be wrong, MUST be duplicitous
MUST be deliberately biased.

I am beating my head against a oxf*rd brick wall and it seems that too many just do NOT get the point

Read the thread as early as page 1 or 2 where I EXPLAINED my reasons, and yet every other day yet ANOTHER person comes up with the SAME complaint.

Do you think I don't know that there's a reason for 6-Game Form?
Do you think I don't know that there's a reason for 8-Game Form?
Do you think I don't know that there's a reason for 9-Game Form?
Do you think I don't know that there's a reason for 10-Game Form?

Do you think I don't know that the 46-Game table ultimately decides?

Do you think I don't know that different teams have sticky patches at different times? READING had a sticky patch INSIDE this 22-game run. But my POINT is that the "form" of this run, or the "average" of this run is so utterly, utterly different from any sequence since, and therefore THE BEST WAY TO ASSESS THE WORTH OF THE TEAM is to judge it from the Doncaster game.

I know you know this. I know three-quarters of the people who rant and rave in the thread know it.

But instead of just "going with it" and maybe talking other stats, you, and they KEEP COMING BACK on the same point
for EIGHT oxf*rd WEEKS NOW. You keep coming back and disagreeing over the 22-game table.

WHY?

What is going to change?

Why not say, "I don't like the 22-Game table for reasons X Y and Z but we are wasting energy discussing it."

You KNOW I'm not going to pull it. You know my reasons for it, it's a valid stat that grows more robust every time the length is extend by 1 game.

it's like you REFUSE to either believe it, accept it or ALLOW it. The first two are fine, you right etc, but the third ISN'T your right

The arguments poison what is, in the end, something HARMLESS, even if i was totally wrong in my approach.

The fact is the club uses the same statistic for the same reason and Game 5 of the 22 said:

It takes the Royals' unbeaten run to five games, and is a nice platform as McDermott's new-looking side begins to knit together nicely.

I am not paranoid BTW. Try counting the number of quite clear attacks on me, the number
of times my mental health is called into question. It's par for the course.

Last night I was in Oxford University and I debated with two famous professors, one an authority
in International Law, the other a Political Philosopher, and we talked about "Targeted Killing"

The difference there is people don't say LOL and SowbaLOLll and oxf*rd of Newbie
or post "clever" cartoons. They debate facts and listen to arguments and don't pre-decide
their judgements.

Maybe if you actually (just for fun) imagined I might be RIGHT once in a blue moon?

I told people to put money on Shane EW at 33-1 and 25-1. I was right.

I said Shane would get 20+ goals. I was right.

I said we'd make the POs last season. I was right.

I'm telling people now that the spread bet on RFC is hugely likely to come good (We have to get 73 to win a spread bet)
That's because bookies are using the ppg for the whole 28 games instead of looking at form since the first 6.

We MIGHT blow up, but I know where I'd put my money

Maybe, just maybe, if you gave me the benefit of the doubt now and again, and made a conciliatory
attempt or were careful in your disagreements (which I welcome), maybe we could get along

Snowball I would like you to have your own statistics thread, one on which I would decline to comment.

I would like this thread to be called Snowball's Useless and Meaningless Statistics

And then you could play in your sand-pit, and I can play in mine

I don't think you really understand what a message board is for. As someone else has pointed out ^^, if you want an area of the internet where you can invent your own "stats" and have nobody comment on them then start your own blog. This is a discussion forum and expect anything you put on here to be discussed. If you don't like it, the door's that way

Mr Maguire, I thank you profusely for pointing out that Mr Roberts got
his assist at Middlesboro for winning a free-kick, rather than helping
Mr Le Fondre to score a goal. This is really crucial information and it
fills my heart with deep warmth to think how you strain every sinew
to help me in my quest for information.
