Franchise FC
So they scored quickly - remind me which of the 8 (yes EIGHT) England goals came after that one.

Uhhh... that's 7, son. And it wasn't enough for you boys to go to the USA.

Hilariously, 7 WOULD have been enough, had they not scored.

Factfinder Rodgers said he liked him and he was part of the plan.

Sweeney Todds customers were part of his plan as well!

Well no, because Holland won in Poland so it didn't make any difference.

Fair point, typical of England to not do enough when it didn't matter anyway.

Well, I think after hearing part of the Rosenior interview on BBCRB this morning, we can all safely assume that as soon as Marek can be offloaded, he will be. Meanwhile, I suspect he'll be left to rot in the reserves with the rest of the U14s.

Just a guess but I imagine it went something like this

"Liam, you cost us too much money and we have accepted an offer from Ipswich"

Exactly like all the other players we let go.

And what Rodgers really meant was 'Liam you're oxf*rd useless and I can't believe my luck, you know when we said even Roy Keane wasn't dumb enough to sign you? Well guess what son? Back those bags, you're going Suffolk!!'

Seriously anyone think we'll miss a full back who can't pass 2 yards?

So again back to Marek, if he goes what exactly will we miss? What exactly has he done? All people ever say is he's our best passer. Is he? He's got great vision. Has he? And my favorite, the other players aren't good enough to play with him. Really?

We'd have sold him last week, but I bet Sparta tried to get him on the cheep. He's not cut out for English football, if he was an English club would have signed him. The only team interested in him are from the league he came from. Says it all.

Just so it doesn't get lost, the question was what did Rosenior say in his interview, not what was said to him. I make this point because I'm interested in the answer to the original question.

He said spirits were high after beating Barnsley, then on the Sunday he received a phone call from BR saying that the club had accepted an offer from Ipswich. He said he went to speak to Roy Keane, but told Reading he didn't want to go, so the "offer" was reduced to a season-long loan - he said he was sad as he wanted to finish the job with Reading and get them back up, but the club had to cut their expenditure and as one of the higher paid senior pros now, compared to the youngsters, he had to go. As I said on another thread, there can't be much of that cloth left to cut now.

A weight round our neck...
producing the odd gold-plated footballing moment...
after Sidwell and Kitson, our only carot.

SteveRoyal Weren't Liverpool interested in him before we signed him?

He was briefly linked, but let's face it even those of us who rate him know he's no Xabi Alonso.

Well, that tells us nothing we didn't already suspect, but it's good to hear (or read) it from one of the horses' mouths. Thanks RL. I guess Marek will indeed be on his way in January.

Again, Rosenior is trying to make himself look good.

We didn't get rid of him to save money, we won't get rid of Marek to save money.

We got rid of Rosenior because he's not good enough, we'll get rid of Marek, because regardless of how good people may think he is, he clearly doesn't fit.

I think it will be a combination of both.

If players don't cut it they'll go, but it will be a huge load off the wage budget if they are one of Coppell's team simply because they were all on inflated wages for the league.

I'm pretty sure there was a financial aspect to the release of Rosenior.

Marek just never looks fit to me. Somebody should beast him in training.
