Personally I think Pearce is a bit of an arse not signing an extension so the club can get some kind of fee - even if it was nominal say £1-2m. The likes of Doyle, Sig, Long etc all did.

Obviously doesn't care that much about the club.

Whether it be football or business you look after number one yourself and this is exactly what Pearce has done.

Can't say I support it, but when a big club offers you £50k a week with a 3 year deal you are made for life!!

So it looks like Liverpool are going to sign Kolo Toure so maybe that won't be his destination after all? Funny I was never sure how well Pearce would fit in with the ethos of pass and move. I always thought someone like SCFC would have been a more comfortable fit for him, a team that plays it direct and looks for big CBs. However, now Pulis has gone and SCFC are looking to change the way they play maybe that door will close for him. It will be interesting to see where he ends up in the summer. At this stage I can't see it being here, his refusal to sign the offered contract (not criticising him by the way) has probably led to Adkins freezing him out the team, after all, who's going to work a player into a potential squad plan, when he probably will be off in the summer?

The fact that there is 8 years in age difference may suggest otherwise, pearce was never going to sign and walk in

He hasn't only been linked with Liverpool so far though

He's also been linked with West Brom and Sunderland as well as Cardiff

While i agree that an individual should always look to better oneself, i also maintain that you should never burn your bridges.
While Pearce obviously believes he's better than RFC now and deserves more money, unless a deal is signed than he is risking looking like a total moron.
I hope, for his sake, that he has signed a good deal elsewhere, or he'll have a face like a beetroot if he come crawling back saying "about that contract extension". Or even worse, being too stubborn and moving to a lesser club (e.g. Matt Mills).
The whole thing wreaks of agent interference to me, and very poor agent interference.

Good luck Al, you might need it!!

You know I do hope he comes crawling back - and we tell him the appropriate place to insert the tightly rolled up contract

Ironic thought, but if he can't get anywhere else, is he actually going to fit in with the way Adkins wants the game played?

He will be very lucky to get a Premiership club coming in for him, decent enough young championship defender but nothing special.
He needs to look closely at Matt Mill's career path, and to be honest Mills has more going for him than Pearce

I can't see any premiership club coming in for him. Liverpool, who seemed at one time favourites, are increasingly being linked with a replacement for Carragher and, possibly, another central defender but I'm not aware Pearce's name is any longer being banded about. Seems mainly players from the continent that Rodgers now has his eye on.
I would love to have him stay at Reading, personally.

Mills has more in his bank account and is much more of a cúnt. Pearce is a far, far better player.

The way he celebrates when he scores does not remind me of a player that does not love the club. He clearly loves Reading but hos agent has clearly been filling his head with BS.

I love how that now he wants to leave everyone is calling him crap. This is the same player you voted POTS last year, the same player many were calling to get the armband this season. Just because he might be leaving does not make him a bad player.
