Because if we press them, we risk being tired and unable to do anything. If we stand off a bit more and wait for Swansea to give it away or the chance to make an interception, then we will have the energy to counter attack. McDermott has used this strategy before and it has generally served us well.
It works well against some teams but not Swansea IMO
