Hound Oh even better, Peterborough lose. Be a big turnaround for either they or Derby to get out of it now

Agreed. Derby just look incapable of picking up points sway from home.

Looks like Kazim-Richards may also be out for a while, which further weakens their squad. Think Morrison played up front yesterday?

Well surely that`s posh out of it, down to 2 from 3 with Derby the outsiders.

Coventry losing tonight may do us a favour strangely, as they now know they have to beat Derby else their play off push will be all but over.

I thought similar with Sheffield United only drawing away at Blackpool. Their home game against Barnsley is now a massive game for them to try and get back in the top six.

Interesting game actually, how much of a derby game is it, a spicy affair or an insipid non event like Reading v QPR?

Definitely a derby game. There is only about 10-15 miles between the grounds. It's obviously overshadowed by the Sheffield derby, but United see Barnsley as a bigger rival locally than others around them (Rotherham, Doncaster) due to Barnsley predominantly being the best of the local sides around them that they usually play, other than Leeds. Sheff United are less bothered by Huddersfield as it's further away.

Both Sheffield clubs, and Leeds, are a bigger deal to Barnsley than the other way around, same with Rotherham who the Sheffield clubs patronisingly refer to as Toytown. Both Rotherham and Barnsley have small club inferiority complexes over the nearby Sheffield clubs, and perceived local South Yorkshire media bias towards the city clubs.

Yeah definitely, it's a bigger game for Barnsley than it is Sheff United because Sheff United are more bothered about Leeds and Wednesday. But they would still want to beat Barnsley for bragging rights.

And they’ve already played us twice

Not much hope left for them

Agreed - after turning things around to lead 2-1 last night, you can imagine confidence may have started to build. To then finish without even a point - ouch. Then you look at their fixture list and you really struggle to see where they win again.

They're done and dusted. Derby look knackered too. But Barnsley look like they have their shit together more than we do, despite a tough few games coming up for them. We have a few at home now and have to make them count, otherwise we will take that third spot IMO.

I guess I'm an old fan nowadays. Football isn't as do or die as it was when I was a teen or in my 20's; but I'm really enjoying how ours and others survival in this league chops and changes each week. It's extra enjoyable watching Derby get what they deserve as well.

Excellent move for them and a real gamble by Notts County to potentially take on his wage to seal promotion.

As for us - its simple - 4 wins.

Yep, but only Derby of the bottom 4 have won more (and that is only 1, in 1 more game).

Yeah - Derby's wafer thin squad has nearly broken now esp. with Buchanan and Kazim-Richards out injured. Their team is either u19 or over 32 - not a great mix.

If the fail to win on Saturday, and we do, then I think they are done.

Barnsley have found some home form and are probably lucky in that 6 of their last 8 games have been at Oakwell. 4 of the next 6 are away, their home games are us and Peterborough. This will be a test of if they are on a roll, or improved slightly with a reasonable run of home games.

AthleticoSpizz …..and once again…..

Moore not even on the bench for Sjoke…injured?

Yes he is injured, expected back in early April. Not that it matters as he'd miss the Reading/Stoke game anyway (as Tom Ince will too).
