SteveRoyal Okay, at the risk of being called a whatever we're called nowadays,Hunt is the best left winger we have, he works the hardest anyone else does and he pushes us forward with his speed and attitude.
So, even if he has no 'skillz', he helps us.

I think that is an issue whick will be addressed in the summer

Horsham Royal Hunt's goals have got us one eighth of our points this season ... Everton (h) / Brum (a)

stop being sensible - Hunt's sh*t partridge says so - unless of course he's just annoyed because we might not actually get relegated, despite what the whiney pr*ck's been saying since about July

Good post if slightly too agressively put.

We are staying up are we not AP? (fingers crossed)

His weighted assist at Boro for Harpers goal - arguably the result that turned our season around and given us a real chance of staying up

No-one remembers Sunderland (H) then?

Playing at this level Hunt's "airy" in missing a golden scoring opportunity is the equivalent of Tiger Woods doing an 'airy". For the amount he gets paid, that miss was bread and butter stuff. Maybe he could be forgiven if it was a one off but i travelled 12000 miles to watch the team for the first time live (as opposed to live on Sky) in 33 years to see Hunt do exactly the same thing against Postsmouth on New Years Day. Sorry Mr Hunt but you ain't good enough for the Premier League and to those who dissagree, ask yourself this, if you were running the club, paying him high wages, desperate for 3 points and we do get relegated by say one point, would you have him in our team?? Answer = No Brainer

Row Z Royal I think that pie's gone to your head, AP.

Hunt was no worse than Doyle or Harper, Kitson or Shorey.

It was a dire game that Clatters livened up, but I'd rather have Hunt in the team than Convey given our need for fighting spirit at the moment.

It wasn't that dire a game as far as 0-0's go, but spoilt by an absolutely dire official in charge again.
The strikers are getting absolutely no service from either wing which explains why Kitson and Doyle are continually drifting out wide to try and do something with the ball themselves. I fail to see Doyle scoring again this season unless the delivery to the strikers improves. Worryingly now that the defence has tightened up, it is the attacking side of the team that is now in danger of letting us down!

Not read a lot of the posts here so sorry if been covered but to me Hunt has not looked anything like the same player since he signed the new contract.

I like him but of late he has become far too predictable going forward whereby defenders can almost tell what he's going to do before he's done it and was I the only person not surprised by his air kick on Saturday with the goal at his mercy - nowhere near the first time this season.

Needs to recover some kind of form thats for certain.

Alan Partridge
LUX Thank God for Stephen Hunt. AP wtf has happened to you this season?

OK he is not Ronaldo, but we are (sort of, often with luck etc etc) safe-ish now and yet you are still unremittingly and humourlessly negative.

Have you got a girlfriend?

Just saying what i see, Hunt for me has been our worst player for the last 5 or 6 games and yesterday was utterly shambolic.

and yes to the second bit.

Think that is totally fair judgement regarding huntys performances ever since he signed on

Hunt may have had a few bad performances of late but he is still a good player. We cant expect him to be at his very best every week. The expectations of him are so high that as soon as he has one bad performance we start slagging him off!
And to be fair he's 10 times the player Oster is!

I think what you mean is that he runs about 10x as fast, and 10x as far. He is not 10x the player though.

TBH, Hunt gets a lot of slack from a lot of people - if Oster had had as poor a game as Hunt did on Saturday then he would be villified by many yet Hunt doesn't. Yet Hunt does something good and is praised from the mountain tops whilst Oster's excellent moments are conveniently forgotten.

I like Hunty because he works hard and is a “typical RFC” player. I find it really annoying that some of the posters think he is above criticism just because he works hard. He has been terrible since he got his new deal. Kebe or Convey should be given a chance.

The thing, which worries me about Hunt, is his lack of technique, he seems to be a poor crosser and finisher. I can’t remember the last time he put a decent ball in.

Oster gets slated but he has much more ability. By nutmeging a FB and then putting a decent ball in Oster created one of our best moves. Oster contributed so much more in that one instance than Hunt. All Hunt really did was run around with no end product. Which seems to have been the general theme since he got his contract.

Has anyone else noticed we have scored goals from set pieces in the last few weeks? S Hunt has been nowhere near the delivery to set up these goals.

Skill-wise they're about the same (crosses not clearing first defender, mis-kicks, etc) but Hunt wins for all his other qualities

are you serious? Watch the Bentley volley. Also, any tracking back was half-hearted.

Players who TRY (all the time) will always get slack. (e.g. Parky)
Oster's excellent moments are few and far between and outweighed by the very bad moments.

It is hard to enter a debate with someone so obviously blinkered as you. Try doing a lttle 'tick sheet' of his good and bad moments and I am totally convinced that you'll find that the good heavily outweighs the poor.

Hunt's energy and will are fantastic, and they alone do create end product at times. He gets at defences, sometimes he gets lucky breaks, sometimes his pace creates opportunities. He's made and scored vital goals.

I think we all love Hunt's go get-em spirit. But if he's to be a long term Prem player, rather than an enthusiastic amateur, surely he needs to add some football intelligence?

Hunt has three issues to solve, I think.

First; He has to play within his ability. His attempted flicks, backheels etc. are almost always embarrassing. Who cares if we get embarrassed, but frequently we lose possession. Since the new contract he seems to have over-indulged in playground stuff. He should keep it simple.

Second; He needs to get his head up and look around when he runs. So often he just gets his head down and ignores much better placed team mates.

Third; He needs to work hard to get better. The air shot on Saturday was truly awful.

I'd love to see him mature into a skilled player with his old school attitiude. Whether he's got the talent or the desire to improve, I guess we'll see.
