North Somerset Royal His Twitter feed is certainly more reliable and accurate than Dellors commentary and the club official TF. Generlly first with the real story like today

. @JonnyFordham: Had it confirmed form a source that, as expected, rumours linking Welbeck with a loan move to #readingfc from #mufc are nonsense

Anyone could have tweeted that (you don't actually need a source), given it was about as likely to happen as JM donating £200M to RFC with no strings attached!

Not everyone though it would seem :D

I think Sir Alex feels that RFC do things in the right way (he's been quite complimentary to us in the past) and, if Wellbeck needs games and may not get them with Man U, we might be a good loan option. Added to our recent and Summer signings, who are now finding their feet, we might just start getting a few results. Hope it's not just a baseless rumour! A loan signing like Wellbeck might just give us a bit of credibility if there are other deals being negotiated.

In protest over the sacking, I presume?

Respect, Johnny.

Yesterday he was told by the players they trained as normal and McD was still in charge. They didn't train and BM was sacked. He has no 'sources', but he is a nice guy. Bit like BM and NG, and they're off too. Being nice doesn't pay.. You can see Di Canio coming in..!!

Surely a journalist has to report what they're told in good faith.

It's the club blatantly lying, not Jonny being taken in for being too nice.

I don't think he can say, "the club has told me they did train today, but I think they're lying" can he?

Charles Watts of the Maidenhead Advertiser is joining the Reading Post as presumably, Fordhams replacement.

Despite being an Arsenal fan he's a good lad and a gr8 writer and I look forward to seeing him do well.

The only concerns really must lie in his connections to known 'faces' in the Maidenhead hooligan scene :?

The new guy bangs on a little too much about Arsenal and not enough about Reading for me.....

and where is the inside track? this Mapps stuff seems to have come out of left field for local journos... though Jonny tweeted about it

To be fair, that can be true of a lot of transfer stories re: local/national press. Local press are more likely to have either spoken/unspoken agreements with the club to stop deals spiraling out of control. National press don't have the same obligations.

Fordham seems to be pretty bitter towards Reading fans. Biting a lot more recently.
