Reading u18 v Millwall u18

by bootboy » 09 Sep 2006 17:51

Anybody else take a trip over the training ground for this game this morning?

Watched the first team training for Mondays game, then saw a cracking game from our u18s as they beat Millwall 3-0,but could have been six. We certainly have some quality youngsters in our system. Outstanding today was James Henry, who must be our opportunity to produce a Theo Walcott. Was all over the pitch, hitting quality free kicks, corners and crosses at will and constantly setting up plenty of chances for his team mates. Also scored the goal of the game picking the ball up just inside the Millwall half on the right hand side and proceeded to beat five players before lashing home with his left foot. His injury looks to be well behind him and I can now understand what all the excitement about him last season was for. Hope the club move him up again soon as he is better than this level. For christ sake RFC lets not let another quality youngster go from under our noses. Perhaps a good question for the fans forum!! Also very good for our u18s were Jem Karacan, Alex Pearce & Simon Church. Well done lads, a very entertaining morning.

Promising to hear, but we've heard it so many times in the past.

Alex haddow, nathan tyson, soares, bocaud, etc

Probably end up like most of them.

And finally, onto the weather where it's going to rain and be filthy cold for the next three weeks.

Henry's got much more talent than any of them. You can tell by the way he's come back from his injury, that he's got the mental toughness that I think others have lacked in the past.

Still you are right though and there's quite a few more names you could add to your list, but James Henry is different....

We seem to get good reuslts, win things with the youth but never produce any first team regulars. Its odd.
