Fox Talbot Betting odds quite clearly ignoring the (spooky) Power of the Past.

I don’t think any fairly regular opponent has a worse record in Reading than Mansfield. Now it’s P25 W0 D4 L21. Can’t be many worse between any two league teams. Maybe Luton at Man United.

Last time Mansfield go a point here (1975) I think they were already champions of the division and still couldn’t beat us.

Yep was a 4th tier re-arranged game, last game of season I think. Back then you could play games in hand past the end of the scheduled season; something impossible now due to the play offs.

When I saw someone point out Mansfield have never won here, I assumed we hadn't played them very often - probably due to the us being in the Third Division South and them in the Third Division North (when those leagues existed) and us and them not ending up in the same division afterwards. I didn't realise how many games we've played, nor how one-sided that record is.

On the flip side, our record at Mansfield isn't very good (P25 W2 D12 L11) - although not as bad as their record here.

Doncaster Rovers is another team the Reading have an outstanding record against. Reading have only lost 5 of the 45 games the two clubs have played across all competitions. 44 league games have seen Reading lose twice at Elm Park as well as just twice in Doncaster. Currently 13 games unbeaten at any venue with the last defeat being 4-1 at Elm Park in 1984 and have not lost in Doncaster since the 7-5 in 1982. First time the clubs ever met was a 3-2 Doncaster win at Belle Vue in the FA Cup in 1950, eight years before the first league game.

Great little club is Donny, a feeling certainly helped by a lot of wins.

And that hilariously slow and awkward Pearce stepover.

<<44 league games have seen Reading lose twice at Elm Park as well as just twice in Doncaster.>>

Interestingly* those two home defeats to Donny ended our unbetaen home runs of 29 league matches (1976) and 27 league matches (1984).
Donny strike when you least expect it.
