Must mean Karleigh Osborne is arriving. Surely its wise to keep 4 centre backs in the squad, so is Bongani staying til the summer?

Was he also on loan there last season? I seem to remember a defender going there and not being able to get in the side much.

Wonder if this'll form part of a potential Rhodes deal?

Yes, it was a months loan at the end of the season but they won 3 and drew 1 in that time so he was unable to get in the side.

He was there for four weeks at the end of last season and never made an appearance.

Straight loan swap. Huddersfield realise they'll be able to ask for even more if he scores some goals in the Championship with us.

Strange that Reading keep loaning out players like Morrison and McCarthy to much bigger clubs.

I thought Morrison looked quite good when he featured in pre-season, against Bristol Rovers in particular he looked composed at the back and very capable with the ball. Cleaned up the mess that Sonko had left in the first half.

I know a lot of Swindon fans who said he would be an immediate starter for us.

Another gamble that hasn't got close to paying off?

Although he's still young, and this might just be a case of getting him the experience he needs to progress, it doesn't really bode well for his Reading career that we've let him got for the rest of the season.

At least Clark must've rated him a decent enough player to take him back, but unless he gets games it's possibly telling that he's gone as backup to a side in the division below whilst we've apparently gone out to get a like for like replacement.

but hes only 21
surely you cant tell either way, and the only reason hes going is cos weve got someone lined up who we believe is in a better position to produce now

I can't tell no, I've not really seen him play as yet. Can McDermott and Co tell after working with him for a year? They'll have a decent idea of what his potential could be (that's their job to make those judgements). Yes they might get some wrong, and some players don't live up to their potential in the same way that some massively exceed others expectations of them.

Even given his age, I'm not sure it's a great sign for him that he's not been able to get much of a sniff here in the last 12 months.

I'm not writing him off, just second guessing the motives for the loan.

Well he has played 1 game in a year so probably wasn't going to match fit if someone got an injury. I think he's just been unlucky that since he's joined we've had 2 of our best and most stable centre back pairings since we got promoted.

I've seen him play once. His positioning wasn't great, his anticipation wasn't great... tbh, he just wasn't particularly good. Admittedly he was playing in an utter shambles of a Reading side at the time.

If I had to make a comparison I'd say a sort of lower league version of Pearce, before Pearce really started to look commanding at this level. A bit less ungainly maybe, but considerably less intelligent defending.

He's young, and he isn't going to get much better rotting in our reserves. Personally I think he's going to end up "file under 'Bennett'" in the waste of time folder.
