KaLOLifa Cisse

How is he even regarded a footballer?
An even bigger question is how was he brought in as a Premiership footballer?!
It's all well and good being able to break up play, but giving the ball back after getting the ball is not productive.

Sell him.

Agree....though not just him...we cannot stop giving the ball straight back to the opposition most times we win in...do we not practice passing the ball and how to hit the target with shots ouside the box in training ? come on man...its basics.

The daft thing is, I don't think he's even that good at winning the ball.

The game too often gets played around him because he's too slow to react or read the game. He can throw in a few decent tackles, but he just isn't really that good.

The worrying thing is that the likes of Cisse, Kebe and Matejovsky were all bought to the club to play in the Premiership!

We never really kept the ball well under Coppell, apart from when the ball was with Shorey, Harper or Little, so it's not much of a change from then. It was refreshing for a while under Rodgers when we could string a few passes together.

Only a narrow focus and awareness, poor control, poor passing and no real footballing brain. Looks like he's drowning in midfield.

Put him in defence where he can have his back to the wall metaphorically and I think his game improves. Drastically. Though his marking and heading may be suspect there and prevent him from being a great centreback in England.

I knew we were going down from the Prem the day Coppell said we didn't need a new centre half, we have Kalifa Cisse.

Can't have been many worse players to play in the Prem.

On his day, against a poor midfield he can do a job. He plays in a square though, keep the ball away from him and the match will just pass him by.

Centre half he's quite good. Centre midfield he is god awful.

He can't head a football.

Pretty important quality for a centre back.

I'd be happy with him aspiring to be mediocre.

He was that good a centre half that Coppell forgot he could even played there and then after playing him there a few times went back to every other option he could instead of playing him there again.

He's just a very average footballer, and nowhere near the level we needed when he was bought in (scouted by our now manager no doubt).

I watch a fair amount of Portuguese football having been a Porto supporter for 10 years and Cisse played CB quite a few times for Boavista. The only thing is they played 5 at the back or in the middle and the pace is a lot slower in Portugal, although technically very good. He did OK and Benfica were interested in signing him as a CB but i bet there glad they didn't. He clearly can't adapt to the pace of english football and can't even get into his country's first 11!

Or even make it into their squad...they do have a few good centre mids though to be fair to him.

Much like Kebe really. Lauded as being an international and potential Premiership player, but basically just not at that level and they've only got a handful of caps between them.
