RoyalBird So that leaves Cisse/Karacan, Kebe and NHunt. This is the plan Rogers is taking us down and it's going to either boom or bust and I'm not sure we're in a good enough position to have taken the risk of trying it.

It also leaves Federici, Pearce, Long, Tabb and Mateyovksy - in other words we could get pretty close to still fielding a atsrting eleven of players from Coppell's team.

So why worry ?

Ark Royal History has proved that when we have had Stalinist purges in the past (87/88 and 97/98), relegation was the inevitable outcome. I will be delighted if we finish 21st.

Not this time, old boy.

winchester_royal You can't not be excited by what the future holds.

We have a group of talented youngsters having come through the academy. A splattering of experienced pros, and a couple of outstanding prospects have been brought in.

Bring on Donny.

You just know donny will do us 1-0 after that don't you

Scrappy goal with 10 mins left.

we've replaced an experienced pl /championship team with a team eg where our replacement rb (of a player who's played at pl, and championship level) has basically only experienced football at div 1 level (bar 3 games) - when as a team we are crying out for some experience.

It's a massive, massive risk. Still saves some money...

I might have to throw a few of these back.

How many minutes, if any, did Henry play in the play off final? Hardly constitutes much in the way of "experience" imo. Regardless of that, I'm happy enough if Rodgers has stated this is a 3 year plan (although I thought I heard mention of a 5 year plan when he first arrived but must be mistaken) - but I'd have been happier if Mr Mad stuck to that and didn't give the impression, as he has in the past, that we're aiming for Prem football at the end of this season. If the management and Chairman all sang by the same hymn sheet it would be a start.

This does not, whichever way you want to look at it, constitute a brick by brick approach, however, so I'd rather no-one in any authority at the club dragged that up again.

If we don't relegated this season, I'd say that was success this year. And I'm looking forward to success.

Sarah Star Can't we be both? It is a bit like taking a parachute jump when you've trusted someone else to make all the arrangements and pack the parachute for you.

Just to be clear - if you take your first parachute jump, there is absolutely no chance that you'll pack your own chute.

ZacNaloen When are some of you going to realise that when the club talk about their aspirations, i'e get back in the premier league, be a stable premiership club, be as big as arsenal etc these are goals for the long term and they will take as long as they take. Have some patience and just enjoy the bloody football will you. I'll take the long game over the short game any day. Far more interesting.

Spot on.

Not really- we spent years building to get to the prem...brick by brick.. a gradual well run process. Surely the long term plan was to stay there...not fvck it all up and start form square one again? If so, this isn't effective in business or football terms.

I fear they stuck with Team 106 for a bit too long. When the time came and we had to change things, we've had to do too much in a short space of time.

That second season in the Prem, really, when the club stopped pushing forwards and rested on its laurels.

MalcybabyRFC I can’t wait for the international break to be over.

I am totally behind Rodgers and his plans to shape Reading into a young, dynamic squad, building good relationships with the top SPL & Premier league clubs for loan & buying purposes just like our competitors have done and where we have failed in the past.

Rodgers has spent most of his career to date working and developing youth players for both us and Chelsea. I can fully understand his ideas and I am just thankful we have a manager who knows something about young talent, where to look for it and finally how to get the best from them!!!!

I’m sad to see the back of SSC promotion boys and I was scared that we were loosing our identity that we had worked hard to achieve. I may temporarily miss the period where if I mention Reading FC to my mates, automatically they come up with the names of Doyle, Hunt, Lita, Bikey, and obviously Coppel but I also appreciate this has now happened and look forward to the new era under what could be the greatest ever manager Reading FC has ever seen.

Im a loyal royal and although these past couple of months have been a roller coaster im excited about what’s to come.
COME ON URZZZZZZZ

Congratulations, you have just been nominated chief arse licker

It does in a way. It's just that they've knocked the house down and are starting to build it all over again.

Give Rodgers the opportunity to prove his decisions have been the right ones -- at least he's identified those that dont fit in with his plans going forward, and to some degree has now got what is "his team" - (Im sure there were other players that he would have liked, but finances probably restricted any movement for these)

He knows now that he will be judged on this squad, but at same time he wont be falling back on the excuse of it being the squad he inherited..so fair play to him -his cards are on the table, now its time for them to be played
