Club class to World class over the course of pre-season

by readingbedding » 03 Aug 2009 13:29

"We defended really up until about the last two minutes but there's a very disappointed dressing room in there even though we've drawn 2-2 with one of the best teams in the world. i've always said that the best teams start quickly and finish strongly and that's what Chelsea showed today.

"But we've changed our style of football and there's lots of room for improvement both tactically and technically and we'll get better with the ball.

"But I thought we were excellent against some world class players today and showed some good moments.

"We've gone from club class to world class over the course of pre-season but we're delighted with how it's all gone."

Wow, that was quick...What will we be by the end of August?
Hold tight, this promises to be fantastic!

I'd hardly call being dominated for long periods of 90 minutes and then losing 2 very sloppy goals against a side who are struggling to make a real impact on the European game (let alone world game) as "world class" :|

He's saying we started play club class teams at beginning of pre-season to finishing playing against world class teams. How did you not see that?

Um Chelsea has been up there in the Champs league for years. Semi's and quarters for the last few seasons. I don't think he meant world class but BR is a fan of Chelsea too.

How many times have they won the Champions League? Hence the "real impact" comment. Thanks.

Had they won the CL and then got the chance to perform on a world stage then I'd agree with him.

P-S Only just read the sentence before the highlighted sentence

Some perspective, please. Is there a world stage? Surely the CL is the pinnacle for European clubs? And all the best non-Europeans - OK, most of them - play there. The World Club championship is hardly an aspiration, is it? Chelsea are world-class, ie one of the best teams in the world. They've reached, what, five out of the last six CL semis? And that includes a loss on penalties in last year's final.

i have my rose tints on obviously....

but i didnt see us being dominated in the 1st half
i saw them have plenty of possession in their own half, and taking a few shots from outside the area-but i thought, considering, that we dealt with it comfortably well.
we were definitely dominated in the 2nd half with our 2nd string on, but even then coped admirably
IMO

readingbedding is one of the most retarded people I've ever happened across.

Its the persistance that really gets me. He must know he's being stupid. He must.

Anyone else with that level of reasoning would have gone for the noose or the service revolver years ago. I still await that day.

Hope you get relegated this season you bunch of southern nancies.

You lot haven't a clue about football. All you do on here is contradict yourselves all the time. You moan, never get behind your team, and you're home crowds are embarrassing.

The only decent thing about your club are your away fans.

Goodbye losers. :D
