I cant tell you how the Actim Index is calculated because I dont know, so this post is ultimately flawed.
But if it akin to a fantasy football score, i.e. a cumulative score of all games in a season, then there are maybe some reasons why Hunt has scored a lot of points.
What would be most interesting is how many points Hunt had at the end of January. Does anybody know where I can get that information?
Prior to that, Reading were gaining some heavy victories and had by far the best goal difference in the league. It is quite possible that Hunt (and Doyle for that matter) were picking up major contributions to the overall score in just a handful of large home victories (Im thinking of the kind of 6-0 Wednesday or 4-0 Watford). My memory of the first half of the season were that these two players looked by far the best players on the pitch at the start of the season, before Hunt's form dropped off and Doyle lost his fitness. I certainly remember that at one point that virtually all the extreme results in the league involved Reading. They could have got a lot of their points here, very little in a good number of other games, and still finished in the top 5.
Just because Hunt came 4th doesnt mean he is now the 4th best player in the league. Also, given some of our heavy victories and Kebe's omnipresence, his total should be higher.
Also note that the high position of the Burnley players may have something to do with their small squad size.
