Kieron1981 Long doesnt just try and score... he assists

But he still fails to score.

Kieron1981 Lita is ball gready

Just like any other player

Kieron1981 Lita seems to be going backwards in his skills...

How's that then?

Kieron1981 Long is always learning and getting stronger everytime i see him

Then why did he fail to keep hold of his starting place when he was given the opportunity. Noel Hunt seems to have taken it away from him.

Kieron1981 Lita seems to disrupt the team more than assist it

How do you work that one out?

Kieron1981 Long seems to work for the team, even if that means not getting on the scoring sheet

By being on the bench? A striker that doesn't score goals is no good, even if he does make the occasional assist.

Platypuss In February a strikeforce of NHunt, Long and Mooney wouldn't look too convincing.

A partnership of NHunt and Lita could be quite effective IMO.

I agree.

If anyone is going to bring the best out of Lita it is Nhunt. We haven't seen them play together and I think Lita may yet stay.

I don't want him to go in January tbh.

This is fantastic news, his attitude has been causing problems now for a while so he's better off at Norwich. Coppell publicly defended Lita for missing that pen at Stoke, but I think this shows he was furious with him.

Better the devil you know. I think Lita has a lot to give still.

Interestingly, Noel seems to be people's choice to get the most out of every striker...

His and Doyle's fitness and of course staying in January will be key to our success.

Just how does it show that?

If he was furious with him, he could hurt him far more by making him train with the kids and rot in the reserves!

My view is that Coppell has probably done this to help Lita not punish him.

I agree with Spacey- only hard work, application, a few goals and a poor attitude stop Leroy from becoming a permanent fixture in our first eleven

We've kept Long and sent Lita off to Norwich because Long is our 'super'-sub. He certainly has more of an impact coming off the bench than Lita does.

But surely we want players to challenge the established strikers for their starting places, not to be content with sitting on the bench!

I don't believe that Shane Long, after 3 seasons, can challenge them.

He needs to play ad more importantly score a few goals, Norwich are stuggling but still a decent club at this level, it's a good move. He's not dropping a level he's going to be match sharp when he returns (fingers x'd in some sort of form) It's not the end for him here but he has to start producing the goods...and quickly. He's a better player than Shane Long and offers far more than shane imo, and at this stage he'd offer more than Mooney, however he isn't going to start here currently so it's good for everyone that he can get some games.

So when did Lita last outscore Long?

When did Lita last have an assist like Long when, as already mentioned, he totally created a goal for Cisse last night.....................has Lita EVER been guilty of such generosity in a Reading shirt?

Put simply, Lita has contributed nothing for nearly to 2 years whereas Long, whilst invariably disappointing when given a start, makes some valid contributions from the bench.

Erm, over the past three seasons, Lita has scored 32 goals whereas Long has only scored 11. I'd say that's Lita outscoring Long.

I confess I can't remember the last time Lita created a goal, but he definitely has never failed to do that in a Reading shirt. I seem to remember him laying off the ball for Harper to score the equaliser at Crystal Palace during that championship winning season and I'm sure there has been other examples.

Nothing? He scored two goals last season. The fact still remains that both Long and Lita have failed to score this season, but Lita is the better player.

Lita last outscored Long in the Premiership a little while ago now, going by goal records, Sonko has outscored the pair of them so it's hardly worth debate.

I can't remember individual games as it would have been a while ago, but I'm sure Lita has assisted as well as scored goals in his Reading career thus far.

I can't remember the last time Lita was sub tbh, i remember him scoring against Boro as a sub.

Lita was good enough 18months ago, more than good enough. The question has to be why isn't he now?

Sarah Star I think this is best all round - for him and the club.

Why hasn't Long gone out on loan for a month or two?

Don't know, but given that he earnt the equalising penalty against Watford and assisted the third goal last night, I'm kind of pleased he hasn't. Long is a decent 'impact' player, although I fear we'll struggle if/when Doyle or Hunt, N gets injured/suspended.

Seeing as you have a damned good memory for things RFC related that indicates it is a bloody long time.

I agree - and Lita is one of the 'ego gang' from our promotion year who actually believed his own hype rather than focussing on developing himself and assisting the team.

He demonstrated potential for a season and a half - and like many, many before him stopped looking forward and thought he'd 'cracked it' and 'arrived'.

Lita, Kits, Sonko, Oster - the 'ego' gang.

There's no place for them in our team and no place for them in our future; although (before their egos took over) there is a permanent and wonderful place for them in our past.

Row Z Royal Lita > Long.

Yes, but Lita's effectiveness < than Long's, and his knack of causing trouble > Long's. So, all things being =, it's best he had another breather (with a view to a permanent move).
