.......but Scott Brown chose not to speak with Reading.
The Royals have confirmed that they reached agreement with Scottish Premier League side Hibernian to sign midfielder Scott Brown before the 21-year-old decided to join Celtic.
Director of Football Nick Hammond told readingfc.co.uk, "We reached an agreement with Hibernian's Chairman Mr Petrie, who was a pleasure to deal with, but unfortunately the player chose not to come and meet Steve Coppell, and later opted to join Celtic."
Brown joined the Parkhead club for £4.4m and has been quoted as saying, "If I had chosen Reading I would probably be fighting a relegation battle next season and then maybe disappearing into the Championship.
"In two years' time people would have been saying, 'Remember that lad Scott Brown - whatever happened to him?'"
Couldn't see this anywhere else so apologies if it's been discussed.
What a cocky little runt!
