higher Weve been appointed ANDRE MARRINER new kid on the select block. He reffed a 1-1 draw with Wigwam at the madhouse a while back. I`m sure he sent off Kavagner or something like that in one game I`ll update later when ive stretched the dog..

I think he was the ref when we beat Cardiff and it was in that game that Kavanagh got the red for a 2 foot lunge into Sid.

Cheers strap.
I think the Kavanagh sending of was by Eddie Evans come to think about it. A couple of Sheff utd sendings off would send Colin into a psychotic spin but hey whats new!

I thought he was rather bloddy good.

Dunno where the extra time came from, though.

I thought the ref was good. But where the hell did they get that linesman from.

Yeah, I was impressed. Played good advantage, allowed the game to flow, didn't give out stupid cards, very communicative with the players, supervised a Reading win, all good...

Agree about the extra time, which ended up being over five minutes by my watch - no injuries, and only four subs (two were before the 2nd kick-off). Should be more like two minutes, no?

I thought he was OK, but he let far too many jumps with leading elbows go. Akinbyi in particular jumps does not get near the ball and falls on the deck to claim a foul.

Maybe Higher can explain the rules when Unsworth deliberately caught the ball between his legs and sat on it to stop Lita getting it.

The ref gave a drop ball which I guess is the right decision if it just happens, but there was definite intent from Unsworth not to let go of the ball as he knew Lita would get it. And it that is OK, is it similarly OK to just dive on the ball and smother it like a keeper as long as it doesnt touch your hands?

Marriner must have viewed the incident with Unsworth effectively sitting on the ball as non deliberate and that the ball was deemed "dead" and that a just restart was via the drop ball.
Had he deemed it to be obstruction then he could have restarted via an indirect free kick affording a nice little scramble concluding with a Doyle diving header at the far post and Warnock running on the pitch in a veritable state of psychotic frenzy and we could "of" all slapped our collective thighs as he`s frogged marched off the pitch by glum looking stewards.

I thought he was excellent.

Refreshing to say I hardly noticed him. Never once blew up unnecessarily (that I can remember). Mind you, it was played in a very good spirit really. (Compared to most games anyway.)

Refreshing all round.
