Re: 50 Not Out

All the games previously mentioned were very special & I would also add a couple of earlier ones which stand out in my memory . League game at home to Gillingham in 1966 winning 2-1, due to the Dennis Allen (or was it Mick Travers) screamer. League game home to Swindon in the same season, who ha...

Re: CONFIMRED - The final countdown

It's like an army of ants watching 'piggy in the middle'. The supporters are the ants, Dai is the 'piggy' and Couhig and Platek are the players. The ants can't affect the outcome of the game and any of the three can trample on the ants and walk away unscathed.

Re: CONFIMRED - The final countdown

I think that Couhig is the only person who may save us from liquidation/administration, whilst he holds the securities. I think it is in our interest for him not to release them until the takeover, at which time they can be released contemporaneously (at the same time). It may be our only way of con...

I also watched it from the South Bank, although I was still calling it 'Under the Clock' at times. Can anyone recall when we first started calling it the South Bank?

Re: On This Day

Yes, I was definitely there & still have the programme (in fact I have all my programmes from Dec 1965 onwards). I did write a description of the goal (of sorts)'when I wrote my book about 25 years ago, but even then the actual details were a bit fuzzy round the edges. Nowadays all I can remembe...

Re: Man down -SCIAG

So sorry to hear the very sad news. My thoughts are with you. I also tragically lost my son back in 2004. Always remember and cherish the good times, they can be a comfort. Although I don't know you personally, if there is anyway I can help please contact me & I hope that you also have others wh...

Re: CONFIMRED - The final countdown

I think the EFL will allow us to finish the season, and will give Dai until early June to sell the club. To some extent, if we get expelled it adds to the argument for a football regulator. I reckon Dai will finally sell this time, but that’s more in hope than expectation. Football is huge in this ...

Re: CONFIMRED - The final countdown

My expectation is that if this drags on till May then the EFL will demand that the club provide them with a full plan/timetable for the sale. If at that stage we just can't provide enough evidence that the club will be sold before the new season then they begin the process to remove us from the EFL...

They won't be. We're also defeated fanbase who would go out with a whimper. The defiance mindset ended last year. I'm not travelling the length of the country for a funeral, wherever first game after a takeover would be a different matter. Fair play to you bud. However, I happen to know quite a few...

Travelling up from darkest Somerset for one of my infrequent games. Will be staying overnight and visiting the ruins of Calleva Atrebatum on Sunday. I'm sure that's a touch of irony!!

probably, it might of been one of those ‘power-cut’ afternoons of the seventies…..maybe even a Sunday? Being a ‘young Spizz’ and being in attendance at many of the Charlie Hurley games, I was probably not making too many notes for future references  'Oh happy days'. I have to admit I had to r...

Oh happy daysRe: MATCHWATCH : Cambridge United (a)

I recall a magnificent Percy Freeman 30/40 yard screamer at a muddied 1970s Elm Park (just don’t ask me  what game it was tho’)….recall the Evening Post of the day rated it very highly. Yes, Percy also scored some great goals. I remember a couple in the last home game against Chester in 1972/...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Cambridge United (a)

Yes, Robin Friday's goal was so special. Even ref Clive Thomas rated it as the best goal he'd seen. Quinn's goal, like Smith's were very good but, another with a brilliant shot was Dennis Allen (the winer against Gillingham in 66/67 from all of 30 yards was another cracker!) I recall a magnificent ...

Re: Elm Park vs SCL - Two Magic Wishes - Meaningless Mindgame Fun

I have so many memories of Elm Park, since my first match in 1965 as a 13 year old; even the toilets are now legendary! Yes, the new ground was magnificent in comparison, but it never felt like home. Of course over time that is what it has become and now we have new memories, since the move in 1998. B...

[I remember the train journey & singing 'No don't Stop The Carnival' at Birmingham New Street. Also being in the Kippax in error, whoops! quote="South Coast Royal"] Fleetwood at home is alright. Losing replays is a bit sad. Sad !!! I was distraught on 31st January 1968 when Man City be...

Re: FA Cup 1st round draw Monday 14th October

Fleetwood at home is alright. Losing replays is a bit sad. Sad !!! I was distraught on 31st January 1968 when Man City beat us 7-0 at Elm Park before a crowd of 25,969. :D Yes but what a fantastic match at Maine Road - drawing 0-0, with all their stars such as Francis Lee, Mike Summerbee, Colin Bel...
