Re: The inevitable poll for the next Reading manager

Quite a few Americans involved with the club now, i wonder if any of them have connections in the MLS? Couhig mentioned early on in his tenure that he had a shortlist of 3 managers waiting if everything goes pear shaped! We all pretty much agree Ainsworth would be one one them and possibly Bloomfiel...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Doncaster Rovers (h)

What was the point in bringing MOM on with only a few minutes to go? Really should of changed things up around the 70 min mark bringing MOM up top and push big Kelvin out wide right in his better position. At least it would give there defense something different to worry about.

Re: Poll: Should Noel Hunt be sacked?

We're trending in the right direction and as Clyde mentioned we have played a lot of the current top teams. Over the past few games the football has vastly improved and if the right balance and system has been found then we should slowly continue the upwards trend. A win on Saturday we put us comfor...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Northampton Town (h)

Tonight is our game in hand and we really need to take advantage and get the three points needed to take away the pressure building on us. On Saturday against Cardiff they were happy to let us play football and we proved we are a good footballing side when given the opportunity to play! We could and...

Re: FA Cup 2025-26

Obviously work is a big factor, but I thought it was ok when I went a few years ago. Not as nice as Hartlepool, streets ahead of Wolverhampton. True enough. I think work is the deciding thing, but I have come across a pretty large number of Carlisle supporters down south - more than other clubs the...

Re: FA Cup 2025-26

This tie has the Harborough Town feeling written all over it! Carlisle will bring a decent loud following from Cumbria and Noel will play a youthful team due to Carlisle being non league and we get pushed all the way and made to look silly again!! We need to pay Carlisle plenty of respect as these g...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Stockport County (a)

A fair few of us mentioned tweaking the formation to a 4-2-3-1 and fair play to Hunty for switching it up and it does seem to suit the players better and Doyle looked good as the No10 having that free role. I would like to see Elliot given the 10 spot ahead of Doyle purely as he is our player and th...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Stockport County (a)

Was fancying a draw until i read our injury report! If both Dorsett and Williams are out plus Garcia then i really don't fancy our chances against a robust Stockport team. Guess it will be Ahmed, Burns, Stickland and Jacob.
I guess we will just have to outscore them :D

Re: Players at Reading who you had completely forgotten about

Our very own "Cult Hero" Alex Fernandez from Espanyol. Played 10 games and scored a screamer against Huddersfield in the Cup. For some reason he hardly ever got played which was very harsh as the guy was a great player i guess just maybe not the right fit and he ended up falling in love w...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Leyton Orient (h)

A win is a win, was it deserved? Possession 29% Reading 71% Orient!! probably a draw was a fair result but good teams find a way to win and we did exactly that. Positives: Williams is a monster in defense. Burns had a stella last 20 minutes, Impact subs made a difference, Marriott showing what we we...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Leyton Orient (h)

I'm going for a home win, our defense was poor last time out and i think they will improve. Ahmed is young and will make mistakes and i'm sure he'll be out to prove a point. Williams had his poorest game to date and i'm sure he'll be way better. The team is way better on paper than the current resul...

Re: Rumour - Gareth Ainsworth

I assume that if it ever comes to having to negotiate compensation with a club whose manager you’ve just poached, it probably doesn’t help your case if you’ve gone on record several months earlier with your plan to do it. And whatever names Couhig had in mind in the summer doesn’t mean any of them ...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Barnsley (a)

Orient is a must win game for Noel especially as its followed by Stockport away!! Our record against strong teams isn't good. There's already a points gap building just above us in 17th place, lose the next two and it's not looking great! If we become stranded i really cannot see the owner's not pul...

Re: The Local Journo Thread

Mid Sussex Royal Do the club still do pre match press conferences? We haven't had a game for nearly 2 weeks.

Actually do we even have any local journos now Earnshaw has gone?

Some guy called James Richings just did the Barnsley preview in the Chronic. Maybe he is the new guy or maybe just a temp.

Re: Fixtures 2025/26

Remember the days of getting into Reading to Elm Park for 7.30 kick offs (as was the thing across all clubs back in the 1970s/1980s) . Never really had any issues with traffic, you got to know what and where the dodgy bits were and managed your time accordingly. Having the ground not in the middle ...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Barnsley (a)

Expecting a comfortable defeat tbh. 2-0 Never know though. Maybe the two weeks off have been spent well Team is going to be a bit tricky with Kelvin hopefully back and Marriott and Ritchie up to speed. Maybe something like JP Ahmed Burns Williams Jacob Wing Savage Elliott Lane Marriott Kyeweraa Ste...

Re: Confimred - Jack Marriott

A fair few Wrexham fans not happy with this decision and seem to rate him highly!! I for one haven't really seen him play but it seems like he's a terrier in the box type of forward with decent pace. I guess we have to embrace him and hopefully we will be pleasantly surprised, anything North of 10 g...
