Re: MATCHWATCH : Huddersfield Town (h)

Snowflake Royal We could always fill the squad with goalscoring AMs and just stick a CB up top.

If they can win headers and have a good first touch, they'll be an upgrade on O'Mahoney's performances so far.

Although, that's a bit harsh on him to be fair, we're not really playing to his strengths yet.

Re: Squad for 2025-2026

Yep. I know the Twitter crew love the dopamine hit of a new signing but realistically even now it’s going to be difficult to keep everyone happy. I don’t want the likes of Ahmed, Osho, Dorsett, Abrefa and Stickland frozen out tbh but I guess they’ll just have to work hard and impress in the cup gam...

Re: Confirmed - Kamari Doyle

Brogue
RoyalBlue Was Kamari Doyle the 'contingency plan', should Knibbs leave, that JJ referred to at The Purple Turtle?

Nah he was coming in regardless.

That's a bit confusing. If Ritchie and Cole are signing, who is the contingency? Would have thought Doyle fits that bill neatly.

Re: Squad for 2025-2026

Think if we could get Cole and Ritchie in now we’d be pretty good to go I would say preferably Cole/other striker and a pacey CB personally. Think we've got loads of AMs/Wingers now... that's where Ritchie plays isn't it? Ehibhatiomhan, Camara, Lane, Doyle, Kyerewaa, Osho, Elliott, Tuma, Okine-Pete...

Re: MATCHWATCH : Lincoln City (a)

Felt like a 5/10 performance and yet we could have got something out of it. Need someone with an x factor. Could be Elliott, but needs longer to get over his injury. Not too worried yet, trust Carey to do what he needs to do in the transfer market. More than a 5 for me, I`d give it a 7/10, I didn`t...

Re: New Owners - Redwood Watch

On the subject of journalists. Anyone know who the American journalist fella was? I think he said his name was Josh Lewin - or something like that. Has been shadowing the club and is going to get our story out there in America. Not sure if the club have invited him in, or he just got wind of the si...

Re: Squad for 2025-2026

Got to think we look pretty strong now if those 2 are indeed finalised Agreed. Being greedy, I'd like to see another centre back come in, someone to add pace and experience at the back. Perhaps another specialist left back as cover, albeit Dorsett or Garcia can play there (I did say I was being gre...

He's 36 next month, but played 38 times for Portsmouth last season. Not sure on this one.

Re: Squad for 2025-2026

What is the clamouring for a "good" striker? We beat several rivals to O'Mahony's signature who has scored buckets at the youth level and made a good impression before his injury at Portsmouth last season. We have Ehibhatiomhan as another option. I would like another option too, but just ...

Re: Probable transfer nonsense - Knibbs leaving

New interview with Noel dropped today, he says he hasn't spoken to Knibbs about it yet, but he's still a Reading player. If he's right mentally, sounds like there's a chance he could be involved at Lincoln.

Re: Squad for 2025-2026

Couhig could have made his life a lot easier if he'd told us all he was inheriting a burning skip, it would take a few years to turn it around and promotion was unlikely this season. This is where my thinking was, but his words about a "strong strong strong" squad, "potentially spect...

Re: Noel Hunt Confrimed

Noel is still learning, so is bound to make mistakes. I don't think the squad is quite as bad as some people think and there will be additions still to come. Only expecting Knibbs to go, but if the fee is anywhere near £2m, then we absolutely should be accepting that. He's a massive loss and Carey w...

Re: Pre Season games 2025/6

The whole thing was a non-event from Reading’s point of view. The fans I spoke to weren't bothered by it, the players didn't look up for it and I think Noel was trying to give players minutes. Doubt he learned anything new. FWIW, I thought Jacob and Elliott looked way off the pace and not ready to s...

Re: Squad for 2025-2026

Knibbs has the power really. If he tells the club he wants to try and move to the Championship next season, we'll likely sell as opposed to losing him on a free. The alternative is to ask him to prove he deserves it on the pitch, but that makes more sense if you're going for promotion. This is a tr...

Got to the point where I'm sick of preseason. Let's get on with it and see some actual competitive football.

https://www.port-vale.co.uk/news/vale-offer-discounted-tickets-reading-clash What a great gesture. Hopefully we reciprocate with some sort of offer for travelling Vale fans as well. £10 might be too much of a financial hit for us to take, but a discounted price would be good. They absolutely didn't...

Re: Womens euros 2025

Incredible stat this. We might not be winning tournament after tournament. But seven of the last eight major finals in the senior or U21 games have involved England. Which is quite something. And should be celebrated. (Men's) Euro 2021 - Italy v England (Women's) Euro 2022 - England v Germany (Men'...
