Re: Old Timey Football Thread

Today is 100 years to the day that the modern offside law was brought in! Ive mentioned it before on here as its one of my favourite english football history moments. changing it from 3 oppo players needed fo to be onside, to 2, and heralding a number of seasons of chaotic defences and record break...

Re: European Leagues Thread 2012/2013

Staying in Italy, the Pozzo family have almost completed a deal to sell up at Udinese, which will mean a change of tack (ie less signing Udinese players) at Watford.

grey_squirrel SJM "surprisingly" binned Evans for Branfoot in 1991 after taking over from Smee.

There are several inaccuracies in this post and it's making my head hurt. It's like an M C Esher picture.

Re: European Leagues Thread 2012/2013

Was chatting to an Italian chum this weekend about the plight of Sampdoria, and he reckoned: a) historically they were no big deal, a small fry Serie A / B yoyo club up to early 1980s, when they were bankrolled by oil money and won Coppa Italia, the ECWC (RIP!) and then Serie A, and at the same time...

Re: CONFRIMATION of the CONFIMRED

After all these years isn`t it time to spell confirmed the way it`s meant to be spelt instead of acting like a load of little dyslexic kids? I like to think most of us are grown up adults on here. This post reminds me of the home game against Charlton in 1994/95. Adie Williams scores a late winner ...

Re: UNOFISHYLEE CONFIMRED - The 2nd final countdown

When he realises Reading is extremely short of decent places to eat it could throw the whole thing up in the air….. I’d have pointed him to Munchies for a good old all day breakfast ( but it’s now defunct). Maybe Clay’s for an Indian, Yolk Cafe for a decent brunch or Orwell’s out at Shiplake for so...

Re: CONFIMRED - The 2nd final countdown

Sutekh Aren’t these things all done by Docusign type of online apps these days? Don’t think businesses would be able to cope with actual physical documents these days. Guarantee if they try a “on the pitch” signing they won’t have a working pen in the place.

good point, I'll bring one along

Re: Placeholder: For Takeover Complete Notification

Scutterbucketz I want to post a “funny” joke about Rob Couhig and Dai Young. It’s more of a play on words really. In fact now that I’ve had to think about, it’s not remotely funny, so I’m not going to bother. Should I have posted the joke in this thread or other one?

the other one IMO

The club's official channel did a reel today from the home game v Barnsley in 2010 when we had a gazillion chances, missed them all, had Khizanishvili sent off after an hour and then won 3-0 with all the goals in the last five* minutes

*ish

Re: Football stats

I forgot to include France which is PSG 13 - 10.8% These numbers were from Jonathan Wilson's e_mail thing which I am subscribed to. He was making the point that English football has not embraced the 'superclub' in the way many other nations have. France having an impressively low number, but of cou...

Seven out of ten, solid. What is Felix Bowness'eseses connection to Tilehurst please? He lived in Alderley Close, Woodley for at least 40 years. "Round 4 – Tilehurst (and nearby)". Long story short, I ran out of Tilehurst people and picked a few generic Reading people. It was for a pub in...
