Maybe a bit harsh given that he only played 3 games but distinctly remember him inexplicably missing a sitting duck open goal from 6 yards against Chester at the Tilehurst End. He was instantly hauled off and never played again.

Surprised no one has mentioned the much maligned Elroy Kromheer yet.

The pitch at the MadStad has never been good. I remember Coppell once saying he didn’t give a damn what it looked like as long as it was flat.

Still I much preferred the cabbage patch mud and sand pitches of the ‘70s. Much more entertaining and easier to spot a quality player.
