Reading have paid out nearly £2.5million to Nottingham Forest to bring Chris Gunter to the Madejski Stadium. Gunter, a youngster at just 22, had been a regular player for Forest in a successful start to his career that also saw him become a Welsh international. Gunter is a right back giving even more defensive options for boss Brian McDermott following the capture of Mariappa and Nicky Shorey. Along with Shorey he will be hoping to come straight into the starting eleven next season. However with Reading retaining the majority of the squad and all key players so far, it looks tough to hold down a place as Reading's squad continues to grow stronger.
