So Mancini had to sell his best player two seasons in a row to balance the books. That one passed me by.

Hoop Blah The similarity is that neither manager was doing the main function of their job, to get the best out of the resources they had.

Couldn't that be said of most managers who get sacked? I'm not sure what point you're trying to make here. The only similarity I can really see is that both set of fans had an element who felt the sacking was unfair.

Mancini had targets for the season - he failed to meet them and pissed a fair few people off along the way....thats the reason he was given the sack

Possibly so. The greater similarity for me though is that both have recently brought great periods of achievement to their clubs but costly mistakes, mismanagement and ultimately underperformance ended up with getting the sack.

Historically, finishing second for Man City would be seen as an excellent result and the manager wouldn't be under threat of the sack. Likewise at Reading, putting up a fight against relegation from the Premier League and finishing in the clubs 3rd highest league position ever could be seen a success. Ultimately though neither were doing well enough.

I'd also say that most managers that get the boot get it without the recent success.

Dave Whelan on SSN just now:

Whelan: "Me and Roberto have always been honest with each other, and I've always said that if a big club came along and he wanted to go, I would release him."
SSN Presenter: "So if Everton came along this summer, you'd let him go?"
Whelan: "I said a big club."

That Brighton actually offered Poyet to us as he'd already fallen out with the board when we sacked BM.... but we always wanted Adkins.

Not sure if this has been posted yet or not..

Since Arsene Wenger last won a trophy at Arsenal, all other 91 football league clubs have changed their manager

That shouldn't come as a surprise, surely? Most managers today last around 18 months on average. I would expect most of those 91 clubs to have had 2 managers since Arsenal last won a trophy.
